Dr. Ashish K. Sahai, M.D., FAAOS is a nationally and internationally recognized, board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon and founder of the Spine & Orthopedic Center (SOC), which now operates five locations across Broward and Palm Beach counties.

  • Graduated high school in 2 years; earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Pre-Medicine from the University of Iowa in 3 years.
  • Completed medical degree at the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
  • Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Tufts Medical Center, serving as chief resident at the New England Baptist Hospital.

/ Before Your Surgery

Pre-Surgery Checklist

To expedite your check-in process, we need to receive your registration information prior to your procedure date. A Nurse will call you prior to your surgery to collect health history information and review specific instructions.

Important Guidelines

  • • No food or drink after midnight before surgery
  • • No alcohol 12 hours before arrival
  • • Remove all makeup, nail polish, and jewelry
  • • Wear loose, comfortable clothing
  • • Arrange for a responsible adult driver

What to Bring

  • • Insurance cards and photo ID
  • • List of all medications
  • • Contact info for your escort
  • • Any copay or deductible payment

/ The Day of Surgery

Check-in Process

When you arrive at our center, check-in at the registration desk to verify personal and insurance information, complete registration paperwork, and identify your responsible adult escort.

Pre-Op Preparation

After checking in, you'll be brought to the pre-op area where our nurse will review your history, have you sign consents, and prepare you for surgery. An anesthesiologist will discuss your anesthesia plan and answer questions.

During Surgery

Your escort may wait in our comfortable waiting area or leave a number where they can be reached. They will rejoin you in the recovery area after your surgery is complete.

/ After Your Surgery

Recovery & Discharge

Once you are in stable condition, you will be discharged. It is normal to experience sleepiness and dizziness for 12 to 24 hours after surgery. Most patients are ready to go home about an hour after surgery completion.

Post-Op Care Instructions

You will receive verbal and written post-surgical care instructions. Your responsible adult must be available to discuss and sign these instructions before you can go home.

24-Hour Guidelines

  • • A caregiver MUST stay with you for 24 hours
  • • Do not drive or operate machinery
  • • Do not make important decisions
  • • Follow-up nurse call next business day
